Three Hills Primary School

The Three Hills Primary School is a grade one school located in the community of Charles Town St. Mary. It is situated 12 km East of Ocho Rios and 56 km West of Port Maria which is the capital of St. Mary.

The community of Charles Town is located closely to the boarder of St. Mary and St. Ann. The school is situated of the center of the Charles Town community surrounded by Three Hills community, Ross Common community, Valley Bush community and Retreat Content community.

The school was founded in the early 19 century and was situated in the Three Hills environment. The school was later relocated on the Hopewell property which is donated by the Baptist church. The school is presently a church leased school that is led by the Ministry of Education.

Our schools’ motto is ‘Aim for the highest’.

The schools’ mission is to provide an opportunity for every child to develop his/her full potential without discrimination both spiritually, physically, emotionally in the culture and academics. To maintain excellent relationship with all stakeholders in partnership of the school’s holistic development.

The school now consists of twelve members of the academic staff that includes one principal eight members of the teaching staff and three ancillary workers.

The community which supports the school consists of mainly farmers or unemployed individuals who are dependents of the tourism industry in Ocho Rios. The student population reflects migration to and from other communities. Over fifty percent of the school’s population reflects single parent homes or voluntary adoption. This has impacted the school’s discipline and students’ attendants. Our school consists of 175 students with Grade six being 40 of which 65 percent are beneficiaries of the PATH programme. 10 percent of the remaining 45 percent are unable to find their basic needs for school.
