Disabled Thirteen Year Old Jamaican Teen Receives New Wheelchair
Portland, OR and Los Angeles, CA (November 8, 2010) — Amy Roloff, star of TLC’s hit show “Little People Big World” and celebrated author, and the Amy Roloff Charity Foundation (Tax ID 27-0288736) joins with FedEx Corporate Contributions and the Issa Trust Foundation to bring a new wheelchair to very deserving Jamaican teen who was paralyzed from the waist down from a motor-vehicle accident. Yanique Mendez’s story is truly remarkable. A victim of a motor-vehicle accident, which left her physically disabled from the waist down, on the second day of her high school life at Ferncourt High in Claremont, St. Ann. After over a year and three months undergoing physical therapy, Yanique continues to strive to be a top student scoring 80 and above during end of year examinations and wishes to, one day, fulfill her dreams of becoming a lawyer.
The transportation of the wheelchair to Jamaica is provided courtesy of FedEx. “FedEx absolutely, positively cares about our global community,” states Lisa T.
