“I am so happy that we are working with the Issa Trust Foundation and are able to help Yanique,” states reality television star Amy Roloff founder of the Amy Roloff Charity Foundation, “she has definitely outgrown her current broken-down wheelchair and FedEx, who is donating the transportation, has been truly amazing in showing that they care about communities here in the U.S. and abroad.  There are still hundreds of thousands of youths and young adults that are affected by disabilities as well.  So I ask you all, and challenge you all, to get involved and give “a little help for a BIG WORLD”, we can help the future be brighter for kids in our global community one child at a time.”

Yanique Mendez’s story is truly remarkable.  A victim of a motor-vehicle accident, which left her physically disabled from the waist down, on the second day of her high school life at Ferncourt High in Claremont, St. Ann.  After over a year and three months undergoing physical therapy, Yanique continues to strive to be a top student scoring 80 and above during end of year examinations and wishes to, one day, fulfill her dreams of becoming a lawyer.

The transportation of the wheelchair to Jamaica is provided courtesy of FedEx.  “FedEx absolutely, positively cares about our global community,” states Lisa T. Daniels Sr. Communications Specialist of FedEx Corporate Contributions, “we use our resources to help thousands of organizations throughout the world.  Our aircraft and vehicles deliver tons of aid to disaster sites.  We are pleased to donate transportation, at the request of the Amy Roloff Charity Foundation for the Issa Trust Foundation.”

"Issa Trust Foundation knows it is important to help children achieve their potential through medical care, education, nutrition and love", states Diane Pollard, President & CEO. "Most importantly, by donating a wheelchair we know that we are providing a child the opportunity to experience fun, confidence, self-worth, competition, social interaction and health benefits that all come from getting the chance to be able to do what other children are able to accomplish."
